Eyes wandered around the floor of UA’s teacher's lounge, no one looking up or daring to join the discourse unfolding right before their eyes. They knew better.
“Right? Who are you to speak about rights, Yagi?”
“You don’t know-”
“I know enough!” The depth of his voice grew, not the volume. Aizawa’s cadence was smooth and even- it just held the rage which filled his every second of breathing. “I know enough—less than a year with you, that’s what’s to blame; that’s all I need to know about what happened to Midoriya-”
“Don’t you dare speak to me about Izuku.”
“Why not?” He took a step closer. “Does it hurt? To hear the consequences of your actions, to know that I know what you did?”
“Aizawa, you will never understand what I’m feeling. The weight I now have to carry, that burden is mine; I’ll spend the rest of my life mourning what happened that night.”
“This isn’t about you, Yagi.”
“So it’s about you, then?”
“No, it’s about the little boy you tore apart and desperately tried to rebuild into something bigger than yourself- something he wasn’t.”
